Overview

Kedarnath, nestled in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India, is a sacred town revered by Hindus. It is home to the Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and a significant pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Shiva. Perched at an altitude of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet), the temple is surrounded by majestic snow-clad peaks and breathtaking landscapes.

The journey to Kedarnath involves a trek of approximately 16 kilometers from Gaurikund, passing through picturesque valleys and rugged terrain. Despite being severely affected by natural disasters like the 2013 flash floods, the temple has been restored and continues to attract devotees and tourists from around the world.

Apart from its religious significance, Kedarnath offers mesmerizing views of the Himalayas and opportunities for spiritual contemplation amidst serene surroundings. The town remains accessible only during the summer months, with extreme weather conditions making it inhospitable during the winter. Kedarnath's tranquil ambiance and divine aura leave a lasting impression on all who visit.
